Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, demonstrated his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises as he embarked on an extensive inspection tour of various ongoing road projects in the state, including the Port Harcourt Road currently under construction.
Governor Otti, keen on ensuring the delivery of projects to specified standards, took the time to personally supervise the progress and scrutinize the quality of materials being used in the construction process. The thorough inspection aims to ensure that the projects align with the standards outlined in the project book.
The Port Harcourt Road, previously one of the most deplorable in the state, has undergone reconstruction by the renowned construction company, Julius Berger, at a cost of N30 billion.
During the flag-off ceremony for the 6.8-kilometer road, Governor Otti emphasized that the reconstruction is not merely a political spectacle for short-term gains but rather a comprehensive effort to restore the road’s economic significance. He pledged that his administration would dedicate the next eighteen months to ensuring that all economically significant roads in Aba are in excellent condition.
Governor Otti also committed to reorganizing the waste management system for improved efficiency and ensuring that essential facilities sought by both investors and residents are in place.
Highlighting the economic impact of the completed Port Harcourt Road, Otti stated that it would drive the rejuvenation of Aba’s economy and send a powerful message to businesses that had departed, signaling that the city is ready for sustained growth and prosperity. He concluded by affirming that the completion of the road would ensure that the “Elephant is back on its feet, never to stumble again.”
