Seven persons have been reportedly shot dead as the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has declared a 24-hour curfew in the state, effective immediately Sunday 30th July, 2023.

Hoodlums in a large number stormed the ware house in the early hours of Sunday and looted items that the government ordered to be distributed to cushion the effect of subsidy removal, chanting ‘Enough of Hunger”.

The hoodlums were seen carrying food items including gallons of vegetable oil and bags of rice.

But Fintiri said the curfew followed the dangerous dimension the activities of hoodlums had assumed across the state capital as they attack people with matches and break into business premises and homes carting away property.

With the curfew imposed across the state, security men including heavily armed soldiers, police, Air force, Civil Defence have taken over all roads while markets have been declared closed there will be no movement throughout the state according to the Governor and those caught will answer for it.

He said only those on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of the curfew.

The Governor is appealing to citizens and residents of the state to comply with the directive, adding that any person found contravening the order would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.

Soldiers have closed all roads leading into Adamawa State from the north and south and the situations is deplorable.
