Abia State ADC elects Kalu Agu as new chairman in Umuahia congress
The African Democratic Congress ADC has held its state congress in Abia State in Umuahia where party members elected a new executive committee ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise produced Kalu Agu as the new state chairman through a voice vote alongside other state officials who will run party affairs in the state.
The congress committee chairman Fredrick Onwe explained that the process followed party rules and showed the party’s effort to build a stronger structure in Abia State. He said the party is focused on stability and better organisation as it prepares for future elections.
The new chairman Kalu Agu promised to bring unity among members and rebuild trust within the party. He said reconciliation and bringing back aggrieved members will be a key focus to strengthen the party base.
The state publicity secretary Francis Ogbonnaya added that the party is preparing to field strong candidates for governorship and other positions in the 2027 elections.
ADC holds Anambra congress elects Chris McCool Nwosu as chairman
The African Democratic Congress also held its state congress in Anambra State at the Kyrie Events Centre in Awka where members selected a new executive team through consensus.
Chris McCool Nwosu emerged as the new state chairman and was sworn in alongside other elected officials who will manage party activities in the state.
The congress was supervised by a committee from the national headquarters led by Ambassador Fidel Ayogu with Queen Nkechi Okiyi as secretary and Godson Okoye as a member.
The electoral committee leadership said the consensus process followed the party constitution and electoral rules and urged the new team to carry all members along.
Nwosu said the party will focus on rebuilding grassroots support and presenting a credible alternative for the people. He stressed unity service and accountability as key goals and said the party will work across all local government areas to strengthen its presence.
Party leader Ndubuisi Nwobu encouraged the new leadership to ensure fairness and inclusion for all members. Party stakeholders expressed confidence that the new structure will improve the party’s chances in 2027.
Former governor Okwesilieze Nwodo also expressed optimism that the party can take over leadership in the state if unity is maintained.
ADC holds Enugu congress elects Prof Augustine Akubua as chairman
The African Democratic Congress held its Enugu State congress over the weekend where a consensus arrangement produced Professor Augustine Akubua as the new state chairman along with 45 other executives.
The congress also selected delegates for the party’s national convention. The event attracted large turnout of members and supporters across the state.
The congress committee chairman Christian Okeke said the leadership list was agreed after consultations with stakeholders and was in line with internal party arrangements.
He noted that there was a disagreement from one local government area but advised members to use internal appeal processes to resolve issues.
Former governor Okwesilieze Nwodo said the congress reflects internal democracy in the party and will help build unity and stronger structures.
Professor Augustine Akubua in his acceptance message said the new leadership will focus on inclusion good governance and rebuilding trust. He added that the party will work to provide better leadership for the people of Enugu State.
Some party members including Ogochukwu Onyema Kingsley Nweke and Ikechukwu Ezeugwu expressed confidence that the party will remain strong ahead of the 2027 elections.
ADC Ebonyi elects Silas Onu as state chairman in Abakaliki congress
The African Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State has elected Barrister Silas Onu as its new state chairman during its state congress held in Abakaliki.
The congress produced a new state working committee with Onyebuchi Chukwu as deputy chairman and Egbedike Emmanuel as state secretary.
Other members include Azubuike Bakare Ogbonnia Ephraim Eze Livinus Nwekpa Egbedike Michael Nowkporo Emmanuel and Felix Nwankwo among others.
The party said the new leadership will guide party activities strengthen organisation and prepare for future elections in the state.
Party officials urged members to support the new executives in rebuilding and repositioning the party for better performance.
ADC Imo re elects Prof James Okoroma as chairman in Owerri congress
The African Democratic Congress in Imo State has re elected Professor James Okoroma as state chairman alongside 15 other former executive members during its state congress in Owerri.
The congress also re elected Demian Ezeagu as deputy chairman Macdonald Amadi as publicity secretary and Kissinger Ikeokwu as legal adviser among others through voice vote.
The event held at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Arena was attended by delegates from all 27 local government areas of the state.
Former governor Emeka Ihedioha expressed satisfaction with the turnout and said the party continues to grow with strong membership across the state.
Former governor Achike Udenwa also praised the conduct of members and described the party as well organised and expanding.
Professor James Okoroma in his acceptance message said the party will focus on rebuilding the state and improving key sectors such as education health infrastructure and human development.
He added that the party aims to make Imo State safer and more attractive for investment while working for better governance and development.
