The African Democratic Congress ADC has rejected the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to remove the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as party leaders.

The party also accused INEC of acting under pressure from the federal government.

In a statement shared on Wednesday by its publicity secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the electoral body took the decision because the government is worried about the growing support for the ADC.

The ADC claimed the government is trying to weaken opposition parties and push the country toward one party rule.

The party described INEC’s action as confusing and not in line with the facts. It said it will explain its position to the public soon.

ADC also warned that INEC has taken sides and is no longer neutral in the matter.

The party said it is reviewing its options and will decide its next steps soon.

It also asked its members and the public to stay calm and remain committed as the situation develops.
