The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that the party is poised to unseat President Bola Tinubu and take control of Lagos State in the 2027 elections.
Aregbesola made the bold statement on Saturday in Lagos while officially receiving Moshood Salvador, leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, into the ADC.
Commending the forum’s leadership and members, he urged them to fully commit to the ADC’s vision, stressing that the party has the capacity and strategy to win both state and national power.
“I am delighted to welcome you into the ADC. With our collective resolve, taking over Alausa and eventually Aso Rock will not be difficult. It’s a simple model: one person brings ten, and each of those ten also brings ten an unstoppable chain,” Aregbesola said.
He expressed confidence that the ADC, strengthened by new alliances, will produce the next governor of Lagos and ultimately Nigeria’s president.
On his part, Salvador said the Labour Party’s internal crisis had weakened its credibility and revealed it as “not a party of the future.” He argued that the ADC, supported by a wider opposition coalition, is better positioned to challenge the ruling APC.
Salvador also announced that the Conscience Forum, with a membership base of over 400,000 in Lagos, will fully integrate its structure spanning wards and local governments into the ADC machinery.
