The newly inaugurated governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi, has said people should address him as Mallam Umar Namadi, not the usual “His/Your Excellency.”

The governor stated this during his inauguration alongside his deputy, Aminu Usman, at Aminu Kano Triangle, Dutse, on Monday.

Namadi was sworn in by Justice Umar Sadiq.

The new governor assured the people of Jigawa that he would run his administration by being faithful, loyal and honest, and would treat everybody equally irrespective of differences.

He called on other political parties to join hands and lift the state forward.

Namadi said he would ensure that all his campaign promises are achieved before the end of his first tenure.

He said the socioeconomic well-being of the state would be part of his priority, adding that he would attract investors to the state for higher employment opportunities.

The new governor reiterated his promises in addressing all sectors, especially health, education, agriculture, and the environment.

He recalled the challenges of flood the state experienced in 2022 where houses roads and bridges were destroyed, and the loss of hundreds of lives.

“We will try and control the environmental challenges, especially the flood that put the state into a mess last year,” he said.

Namadi promised to look at the capital projects critically, adding that the state capital would enjoy the privileges.

He also appreciated the former governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar, for his presence at the inauguration square.
