Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has formally notified the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, about upcoming public meetings, rallies, and processions.

The events, organized by the Take It Back Movement along with other patriotic Nigerians and groups, are set to begin on August 1, 2024, and continue through August 10, 2024, at Eagle Square in Abuja and other public locations in the capitals of all 36 states and the headquarters of the 774 local government councils.

In his letter dated July 26, 2024, Adegboruwa emphasized the importance of police involvement in ensuring the safety and orderliness of the rallies. He requested that the IGP provide details of any police officers or teams assigned to cover the events to coordinate plans and strategies effectively.

This request follows warnings from security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), about potential risks associated with the planned protests. On Thursday, the DSS acknowledged citizens’ right to protest but cautioned that certain elements might attempt to hijack the demonstrations.
