Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing (JSM), the renowned syringe manufacturing giant in Awa, Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, has temporarily ceased operations, citing unforeseen challenges impacting their business.

Inaugurated in 2017 by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the company, touted as the largest syringe manufacturer in Africa, officially announced the end of its operations on December 31, 2023.

Despite halting production several months prior, the decision to implement temporary measures for the company’s sustained success was communicated through a memo addressed to all employees.

The memo, titled “Temporary Redundancy – Service Not Needed Till Further Notice,” emphasized that the decision was not a reflection of individual performance but a strategic response to the challenging business environment.

The memo stated, “After careful consideration and a thorough evaluation of our current business situation, we regret to inform you that we must implement temporary measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company. Unfortunately, this includes placing all positions, including yours, on temporary redundancy effective January 1, 2024.”

Despite the difficult decision, the company expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of its workforce during these challenging times. The announcement urged employees to return all company belongings and reassured them that the move was essential for the company’s future viability.
