Senate President Godswill Akpabio has confidently declared that General Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is a done deal, despite opposition efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming polls.

Speaking at a special Iftar/Lent dinner hosted by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja on Wednesday night, Akpabio rallied party leaders, governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and APC stalwarts to unite and secure a sweeping victory for the party in 2027. The event, aimed at fostering unity and fellowship, underscored the APC’s determination to expand its dominance across Nigeria’s elective positions.

Akpabio praised PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for organizing the gathering, urging party members nationwide to collaborate toward a common goal. “Let’s say amen! We’ll pray for our party—that victory will be ours in 2027. Can we shout a loud amen?” he exclaimed. “We’ll also pray that Mr. President’s second term is guaranteed. And for our governors, your numbers will grow. In parliament, we’ll keep adding to your ranks. Didn’t we just send one of our senators to take charge in Edo State? Isn’t that a win?”

Governor Uzodinma echoed Akpabio’s call for unity, emphasizing the shared responsibility of APC members in ensuring the government’s success. “In partisan democracy, we own this government—its triumphs are ours, and its failures are ours too,” he said. Likening governance to a product, he added, “We’re all marketers of this product. This event is a chance to celebrate our collective efforts as we navigate the sweet and sour challenges of leadership. It’s a dish we must all eat.”

Finance Minister Wale Edun highlighted the administration’s achievements, crediting Tinubu’s bold decisions for tangible progress. “Inflation is dropping, food and energy prices are falling, and the exchange rate is stabilizing,” Edun said. “These changes are easing the cost of living, which is what matters most to Nigerians. Mr. President remains committed to supporting the poor and vulnerable.” He also celebrated the interfaith unity at the event, noting, “Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians observing Lent stand together in brotherhood and sisterhood. With God’s strength, we’ll support President Tinubu to make Nigeria great.”

The dinner drew a high-profile crowd, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Monday Okpebholo, and Francis Nwifuru, former Governor Yahaya Bello, former SGF Boss Mustapha, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, House Leader Julius Ihonvbere, APC state chairmen from all 36 states and the FCT, and members of the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee.
