Governor Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom State has unveiled new financial support measures for students and youth in the state.
During the Youths Appreciation Rally held at Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday, Governor Eno announced that undergraduates will receive ₦20,000 per month, while postgraduate students will get ₦30,000 monthly.
In a significant boost for students in specialized fields, those studying medicine, law, engineering, and agriculture will also benefit from a monthly stipend of ₦30,000. This increase represents a notable rise from the previous bursary of ₦10,000.
Governor Eno highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting youth development through various initiatives. He revealed that 21 youths are currently undergoing engineering training with Ethiopian Airlines, sponsored by the state government. Additionally, over 150 youths have been trained in modern agriculture techniques, with plans to utilize their skills in model farms and promote agripreneurship.
To support these young farmers, the government will provide seedlings and commit to purchasing the crops once they are harvested. Governor Eno emphasized the state’s dedication to fostering youth empowerment and creating opportunities for economic growth.
