The judiciary should be encouraged to restore to Nigeria what they bargained for. Until this is done, we must rank the election as among the darkest blot on the record of electioneering in Nigeria.

I therefore join Chimamanda in urging Biden and other world leaders not to recognize or congratulate Tinubu. Her conclusion is apt: “Congratulating its outcome, President Biden, tarnishes America’s self-proclaimed commitment to democracy. Please do not give the sheen of legitimacy to an illegitimate process.” Let this speak to the conscience of other world leaders and indeed all men of goodwill.
