The Anambra State government has announced a tax exemption for businesses with capitals under N100,000.

This decision was among several resolutions reached during the State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday at the Government House in Awka.

This development was disclosed in a statement signed by Dr. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information, and made available to the press on Wednesday.

In addition to the tax relief, the council reiterated its commitment to enforcing the Anti-touting Law. It urged touts to participate in the Soludo administration’s empowerment initiatives for legitimate employment opportunities.

The statement further highlighted various contracts approved by the council to enhance infrastructure and services across the state:

  1. Rehabilitation of Injection Substation: A contract valued at N228,147,634.33 was awarded to Kolc Ventures for the rehabilitation of the vandalized injection substation at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus.
  2. Free Internet for State Assembly Complex: Provision of free internet access at the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex, Awka, was approved at N81,872,000.00, with installation expected within two weeks.
  3. Construction of Market Stalls: To promote local commerce, the council awarded a contract for 151 open stalls at Afuzo Market, Isuofia, to Crystal Dove Construction Company at N279,072,710.75.
  4. Road Marking Project: Allpee International Ltd secured a N118,716,874.41 contract to mark the Amawbia flyover motorway with a spur through Ezeuzu Junction to ICC along Amansea Old Road. The project is slated for completion in six weeks.
  5. Hospital Equipment Supply: A memo was approved for the supply and installation of modern medical and non-medical equipment at the specialist hospital in Fegge and general hospitals in Anaku, Onitsha South, and Ayamelum LGAs.
  6. Statewide Infrastructure Branding: The council awarded a N200,000,013.51 contract to Conifer Konstruction Nig Ltd for producing and installing 500 fluorescent “Solution Is Here” concrete signs to brand landmark infrastructure across the state.

These initiatives reflect the state government’s commitment to fostering economic growth, improving public services, and creating a more conducive business environment.
