The tide seems to be turning in Anambra State as the unknown gunmen who have been wreaking havoc across the region are now on the run, thanks to the relentless offensive operations by the Anambra Security Outfit, Agunechemba.

Recent efforts have led to significant blows against these criminals, forcing many of them to abandon their camps, leaving behind stolen goods and weapons.

On January 29, 2025, the Security Squad uncovered and dismantled an armoury believed to belong to a notorious kidnap gang operating along the Enugu-Agidi axis in Njikoka local government area. This successful operation highlights the mounting pressure on the gunmen, who are now being driven out of their strongholds.

In a similar development, members of a gunmen group terrorizing Umunze Community in Orumba South local government area have also fled their camp. This follows the capture of key gang members, including the kingpin, who was allegedly involved in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of a woman and her son after a ransom of about N10 million was paid.

The Agunechemba Security Squad has confirmed the arrest of one gang leader, Chukwudi Tansi, who was apprehended at the Enugu-Agidi hideout. Tansi, a notorious figure in the area, was known for his involvement in kidnappings and armed robberies.

The operation led to the seizure of several weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, four locally made pistols, three packets of cartridges, empty magazines, cutlasses, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and various charms.

The successful raid was the result of vital information provided by the public, further strengthening the trust between the Security Squad and local communities. Authorities have assured the public that the manhunt for the remaining gunmen continues, and they expect to apprehend the criminals in the near future.
