Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, shared his Easter Sunday experiences through his social media handle.
After spreading Easter cheer among the inmates of the Onitsha Correctional Centre, he joined the Muslim community at the Central Mosque, Onitsha, who were observing the last ten days of Ramadan fasting.
He expressed his delight at how efficiently they utilized the funds he had provided the previous year for mosque renovations. Obi took this opportunity to remind them, and all Nigerians, of the importance of transcending religious and tribal affiliations. He emphasized the need for unity, brotherly love, and hard work in the pursuit of national development.
Obi asserted that the numerous challenges facing the nation could be overcome through unified efforts, collaboration, and mutual respect. He reiterated his belief that no religion, tribe, or political party has an advantage in the marketplace.
He urged Nigerians to work together to transition the nation from a consumption-based economy to a production-based one, for societal benefit. Obi shared his modest Easter gifts and financial support with the community, expressing his gratitude for their kind words, encouragement, and prayers.
He concluded with a hopeful note, stating that united as one, we can build a new Nigeria.
