Bishop Samuel Ike of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu has called on South-East governors and the Federal Government to take decisive action in the new year to address the ongoing killings and kidnappings plaguing the region.

In a New Year message titled “Another Year is Dawning,” issued yesterday in Enugu, Bishop Ike emphasized that 2025 should mark a turning point in the fight against the rampant violence affecting residents weekly.

He urged South-East governors to consciously tackle the issue of insecurity, stating, “These latest killings and kidnappings in the zone are a wake-up call for the governors as well as the joint security and armed forces to act up to their basic responsibility of protecting the life and property of the citizens.”

Bishop Ike’s message serves as a reminder of the urgent need for coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the people in the South-East region.
