Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that anyone aspiring to become Nigeria’s president in 2027 without dismantling INEC is not serious.

Amadi’s remarks followed the recent declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, as the winner of the Edo State governorship election by INEC. The election, held on Saturday, was marred by reports of vote rigging and electoral manipulation in several wards across the state.

In Etsako East Local Government Area, for example, accusations of rigging surfaced after the APC reportedly secured 352 votes, despite only 213 voters being accredited—an apparent sign of electoral malpractice.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Amadi expressed his frustration, writing, “Anyone thinking of being the President of Nigeria in 2027 and not thinking of disbanding this @inecnigeria is not serious.”

His statement reflects growing concerns about the integrity of elections and the credibility of INEC as the 2027 general elections approach.
