The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that the party will not limit the 2027 presidential ticket to a single candidate, even though it has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the APC national secretariat, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, emphasized that while Tinubu remains the party’s preferred choice, the nomination process will remain open to all interested members both South and North.

“It is the collective wish of the party, and we at the NWC, to endorse President Tinubu as the presidential candidate for 2027. Other organs of the party, including state governors and representatives across all six geopolitical zones, have also backed this position,” Argungu stated.

However, he noted that this endorsement does not equate to a closed contest. “When the time comes, we will release the official timetable, and any party member who wishes to contest for the presidency under the APC banner will have the opportunity to obtain nomination forms and participate in the primaries,” he added.

The announcement aims to reaffirm the party’s democratic processes while showing unified support for the incumbent president.
