The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Monday Okpebholo, secured a resounding victory at his polling unit during Saturday’s election. Okpebholo garnered 102 votes at PU003, Uwessan 1, Esan Central Local Government Area, delivering a decisive win for the APC.

In contrast, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party each managed just one vote from the same polling unit.

After casting his ballot on Saturday, Okpebholo expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that the election process in Edo was proceeding smoothly. Speaking with reporters at PU003, the senator representing Edo Central reaffirmed his belief that the PDP would not gain any support in his polling unit, emphasizing the strong backing he enjoys from his community.

“What I am seeing here is a testament that INEC is getting it right,” Okpebholo remarked. “PDP or any other party will not receive a single vote here because this is my home, and my people love me.”

He also dismissed concerns about security, downplaying reports of unrest, and accused Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki of attempting to incite fear among voters. “There’s no cause for alarm. Everything is moving perfectly,” Okpebholo added.
