Nigerian Army Confirms Major Breakthrough in Imo State
Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade, in collaboration with sister security agencies, have arrested a notorious commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The suspect, identified as Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as Gentle de Yahoo, was captured at his hideout in Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
Weapons and Stolen Property Recovered
During the operation, troops discovered a cache of arms and other incriminating items, including:
- One English pistol
- 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- 25 rounds of 7.62mm NATO
- Military and police uniforms
- Six mobile phones
- A German flag
A workshop used for dismantling stolen vehicles was also uncovered. Ten motorcycles found at the scene were destroyed.
Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims Across States
In separate coordinated operations, soldiers rescued 11 kidnap victims in Adamawa, Katsina, and Kogi States:
- 5 rescued in Madagali, Adamawa
- 5 rescued in Malumfashi, Katsina
- 2 rescued in Lokoja, Kogi
Terrorists Neutralised, Suspects Arrested
The Army reported further successes:
- 2 terrorists neutralised in Katsina, with recovery of an AK-47, ammunition, and a motorcycle
- 1 violent extremist killed in Benue, with charms and a mobile phone recovered
- 11 suspects linked to armed robbery, gunrunning, and violent extremism arrested across Benue, Kogi, and Kaduna
Rustled Cattle Recovered in Plateau
In Plateau State, troops recovered 40 rustled cattle, which have since been returned to their rightful owners.
