Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for the 2023 elections, expressed concern over the ongoing conflict between Aliko Dangote and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

In a statement shared on his X account, he emphasized the significance of the Dangote Refinery, Nigeria’s largest private investment, which plays a vital role in the nation’s energy and economic stability.

He highlighted that the refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is essential for meeting Nigeria’s energy demands and that the investment from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) further underscores its importance.

Abubakar warned that neglecting such crucial assets could deter foreign direct investment, as no investor would feel secure in a country that undermines its key investments. He stressed the necessity of protecting significant investments like Dangote’s to attract FDI and foster economic growth in Nigeria.
