Former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba Ahmed has warned President Bola Tinubu that the support of 36 state governors will not guarantee his re-election in 2027, insisting that a free and fair election could send him out of office.

Baba Ahmed pointed out that the North gave Tinubu millions of votes in the 2023 election. What the region got in return is insecurity hunger killings kidnappings and economic hardship.

According to him, Northerners are neither ignorant nor forgetful he added. They know who stood by Tinubu and who betrayed their trust. The people remember clearly.

He stressed that northern voters should not be underestimated, warning that their political support cannot be taken for granted simply because of the backing Tinubu enjoys from state governors.

Tinubu has failed the North Baba Ahmed stated. The year 2027 is the time for northerners to hold him accountable for the pain and suffering the region continues to face

He further suggested that the number of governors supporting the president would not determine the election outcome if the process was genuinely free and fair.

His remarks highlight the political importance of northern voters ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly as concerns over insecurity, rising living costs and economic hardship remain central to public debate.

The comments also raise questions about whether the political support Tinubu received from the North in 2023 will translate into renewed support when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027.
