The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has revealed a heartbreaking news of losing two of its personnel to a banditry attack in Kebbi.

The State Command’s Spokesperson, DSI Abdullahi Isa, conveyed the unfortunate incident in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

According to Isa, the incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, when a group of suspected bandits launched an attack on Immigration Officers at the Garin Garba entry point, situated approximately 12 kilometers away from the Kangiwa headquarters of Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi.

The brave officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty were identified as Isa Nafi’u (II) with NIS No. 34057 and Garba Haruna Fana (II) with NIS No. 17796. The spokesperson confirmed that a third officer managed to escape unharmed during the attack.

DSI Abdullahi Isa further disclosed that the two deceased officers had been laid to rest in Birnin Kebbi in accordance with Islamic injunctions. He expressed heartfelt condolences, saying, “May the Almighty Allah in His infinite mercy forgive their shortcomings and grant them Jannatil Firdaus and give their immediate families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”

The NIS is left mourning the loss of these gallant officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the face of adversity, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by security personnel in regions affected by banditry.
