In a recent attack on the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at least two officers of the Nigeria Police Force were shot, and a courageous man known as Alhaji lost his life while preventing the abduction of seven family members.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have unleashed a wave of terror in villages within the Bwari Area Council, committing heinous acts of kidnapping and violence against innocent citizens.

Isaiah Samuel, a resident of Bwari, recounted the harrowing incident during a phone conversation with journalists. The attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday when bandits infiltrated Zuma 1 in the Bwari central ward, strategically targeting the house of their intended victims.

Upon hearing suspicious noises, the victims urgently reached out to a relative, Alhaji, who led the police in response. Tragically, Alhaji was fatally shot by a concealed bandit as they engaged in a firefight. Despite the police’s swift retaliation, two officers were injured by gunshots.

“The bandits eventually succeeded in whisking away the man and his family members,” Samuel explained, highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement due to the distance between the victims’ house and the engagement point with the bandits.

Samuel further disclosed another incident where bandits forcefully entered Barangoni during the early hours of Tuesday, abducting three individuals and causing harm to a vigilant member.

In the wake of these distressing events, Samuel appealed to the council authorities to support affected residents and collaborate with security agencies to address the recurring issue of kidnapping in the area. He emphasized the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat the ongoing siege on Bwari.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the FCT Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of this report.
