A foremost Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti support group, Obi-Datti Frontiers, has condemned in strongest term, the shooting and killing of Mrs Bolanle Raheem, a lawyer, by a trigger-happy police officer attached to Ajiwe Police station.

The incident took place on Christmas day under the Ajah Bridge in Lagos. It happened when the victim and her family were returning from Christmas Day outing.

According to the Lagos State Coordinator of Obi-Datti Frontiers, Elder Patrick Uzoma, the Police killing of Bolanle Raheem “is one act that has become too many.”

Recall that few weeks ago, a Police officer from the same Ajiwe Police Station had shot and killed an innocent 31 year-old man in the same area.

Elder Uzoma expressed shock and sadness and wondered why Police officers whose primary duty was the protection of lives and properties were now the ones maiming and killing those who are they paid to protect.

According to him, “It was such nasty behavior that led to the ENDSARS protest because self- preservation is the first law of nature.”

He said that the most painful thing was that Mrs Raheem was pregnant for her first baby after waiting for eight years.

He appealed to the Inspector General of Police to make sure that nothing would stop justice from been served so as to serve as a deterrent to the other trigger happy Police officers.

Furthermore, he called for a special investigation to be carried out on the officers and men of Ajiwe Police Station since shooting and killing of innocent citizens was becoming their stock-in-trade.

“We, the members of Obi-Datti Frontiers in general and Lagos state in particular, pray for the repose of the late Bolanle Raheem’s soul and, at the same time, asking God to grant her immediate family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We are also urging the relevant authorities to live up to their responsibilities and get justice for the late Mrs Bolanle Raheem as soon as possible, so as to serve as a deterrent to the other trigger happy police officers,” Elder Uzoma said.
