As part of its measures to restore constitutional government in the former French colony, the Economic Community Of West Africa States has slammed fresh sanctions on junta controlled government of Niger Republic.

Recall that the regional bloc had given the coupists seven days to reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum who was booted out of office or face sanctions, including military action.

But the junta ignored ECOWAS and vowed to resist any external intervention on its soil.

Already, the coupists have cut ties with Nigeria, Togo, France and the US, and shut down its airspace indefinitely.

While addressing State House correspondents on Tuesday, Ajuri Ngelale, media aide to president Bola Tinubu, said more sanctions had been imposed on the individuals and organisations in connection with the military junta in the Niger Republic.

Although he did not go into details but he said this was carried out through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
