The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman.

Mamma is reportedly under detention at the EFCC headquarters following his arrest in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The former minister was accused of conspiring with staff of the Ministry in charge of the accounts of Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert N22 billion, which they subsequently shared amongst themselves.

So far, several properties in Nigeria and overseas linked to the suspects have been uncovered by the EFCC, while millions of naira and United States Dollars have been recovered from them.

Mamman served as minister under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021 before his sack on September 1, 2021, alongside Sabo Nanono, the minister of agriculture and rural development, during a cabinet restructuring.
