Following Judge Nancy Maldonado, the presiding judge of Northern District court of Illinois in Chicago, ordered Chicago State University (CSU), to release President Bola Ahmed Tinubu academic records to his opponent, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, three United States court has refused appeal by Tinubu’s legal team to stop the order.

Nigerian Investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin, disclosed this through his verified X handle on Monday.

According to him, Atiku legal team told me that Tinubu’s Lawyers approached three different courts in the United States today to delay the release of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records at the Chicago State University, but the request was declined.

Tinubu’s lawyers went further to begged Atiku Abubakar’s team to shift the disposition tomorrow from 10am to 12noon so as to buy time, but Atiku’s team refused.

“The court had cautions President Tinubu that any request for a stay before this court will be denied, as the court finds any stay impracticable in light of the fast-approaching Supreme Court of Nigeria deadlines.

The judge also said the CSU must release the records by 12:00 p.m. on Monday and also designate a senior official for deposition by Mr Abubakar latest by 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

NN News Media recall that Tinubu had fought to stop the release after a district court had granted Atiku the relief.

Tinubu pleaded with the US judge to save him from suffering severe and irreparable damage by placing an emergency hold on the ruling of Judge Jeffrey Gilbert who ordered for his Chicago State university records to be made available.

According to Tinubu, the damage he would suffer would be hard to mitigate if the September 6 judgement of judge Gilbert directing the release of his academic records to Atiku Abubakar is not delayed for possible vacation.

“Severe and irreparable harm will be done to Bola Tinubu if the records are released,” Mr Tinubu’s lawyer argued at an emergency appeal before Judge Nancy Maldonado of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.
