President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has filed an objection to stop the release of his confidential criminal files by the Federal Investigation Bureau (FBI) in the District Court for the District of Columbia in the United States.

The objection followed weeks of denial that there is an impending Freedom of Information (FOI) Act release of his FBI case files.

NN News Media learnt that in the 2500 documents are expected to provide more information about Tinubu’s time in the United States, including when he entered the country, under what name he entered, and his activities while there. The documents are also expected to shed light on Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking in the 1990s.

But Tinubu had taken steps to stop the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other United States services from releasing documents relating to him.

Tinubu’s lawyers in the US had filed motions to appear in an ongoing freedom of information action brought against the FBI and CIA, where records that may help answer questions about Bola A. Tinubu’s real identity and decades-long endeavors are domiciled.

Christopher Carmichael, one of the lawyers who represented Tinubu in the recent Chicago State University (CSU) records case, filed the motion, dated October 18, 2023, stating that he was a lawyer in good standing to appear in the FOIA lawsuit underway in Washington D.C.
