The National and State House of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano has nullified the election of member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency, Mukhtar Yarima, of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP over forgery.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Yarima was declared winner in the February 25 election, defeating Hafizu Kawu of All Progressives Congress, APC.

Dissatisfied with the election result, Mr Kawu filed application, challenging the victory of Mr Yarima on the ground of forgery of primary school certificate.

In its judgement on Thursday, a three-member panel of the tribunal ruled that the primary school certificate tendered to INEC by Mr Yarima was forged.

The tribunal held that Hausawa Primary School, which Mr Yarima claimed to have attended had disown the certificate as the name of the respondent is not on its record.
