Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, representing Taraba State, has been officially crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
Her ascent to the title has been marked by an inspiring journey, echoing the resilience she previously displayed during a controversial disqualification from the Miss Universe South Africa competition.
A South African model and former Top 9 finalist in Miss South Africa 2024, Chidimma withdrew from the contest after questions arose about her eligibility and she faced backlash over her nationality and allegations of fraud from the South African Home Office. Despite these challenges, she found a new opportunity when the Miss Universe Nigeria organizers extended an invitation to her, which she graciously accepted.
The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant was a vibrant celebration of beauty and intellect, featuring a glamorous display of evening gowns. From the impressive group of contestants, the top five finalists were announced: Chidimma Adetshina from Taraba, Paula Ezendu from Anambra, Brittany Edeifo from Edo, Peace Olamide Ayegbidun from Ondo, and Nyekachi Douglas from Rivers.
The final results saw Miss Ondo, Peace Olamide Ayegbidun, honored as Miss Lush, and Miss Anambra, Paula Ezendu, named the first runner-up and Miss Supranational. Ultimately, Chidimma Adetshina was crowned the overall winner.
In her acceptance speech, Chidimma declared, “This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity.” With this title, she will now represent Nigeria on the global stage at the Miss Universe competition.
