Renowned Nigerian televangelist and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has called on Nigerians to shift their focus from criticizing religious institutions to confronting issues of poor leadership and lawlessness in the country.
In a recent social media video, Suleman emphasized that the church should not be scapegoated for Nigeria’s problems.
Suleman urged Nigerians to direct their frustrations toward their elected leaders rather than targeting the church or its leaders. He argued that religion is not the root of Nigeria’s challenges; rather, it is ineffective leadership and a lack of law and order.
The pastor pointed out that many highly religious countries are progressing well because they have strong, effective leadership and respect for the rule of law. Suleman stressed that law enforcement must be strict and impartial to foster national development.
Suleman observed a troubling trend of selective outrage against Christianity, suggesting that critics are quick to highlight the church’s flaws while ignoring similar issues in other religious and traditional practices. He acknowledged that while there are indeed some unscrupulous individuals in the ministry, many pastors are sincere and committed to their faith.
He advised those disillusioned with the church to adopt a neutral stance rather than channeling their energy into animosity. Constantly attacking the church, Suleman warned, would not solve the underlying issues and could even lead to unnecessary stress.
The apostle concluded by affirming that the church will continue to thrive despite criticisms and encouraged Nigerians to adopt a more solution-oriented mindset to address the country’s real issues.
