The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Commander of the Force Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari, a two-week bail to enable him to conclude the burial rites of his mother.

This decision comes amidst Kyari’s ongoing trial over drug-related charges filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following his arrest on February 14, 2022.

The court has set Friday, May 31, as the date for the determination of his bail application in the trial. This temporary reprieve will allow Kyari to attend to his personal matters, including the completion of his mother’s burial rites, before returning to face the charges against him.
