The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 sacked the National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) — Prof. James Garba Damen from parading himself as the national President of the Association. The court ruled that since the election that produced Prof. Damen was conducted on November 16 2020, he was ineligible to contest the office of National President having been holding a subsisting office of National Secretary which term was supposed to end on the midnight of November 18, 2020.

The court ordered the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association to take over the Association and swear in Dr. Uche Odionyenma immediately as the National President of the Association.

Recall: AMLSN held their national elections during their 2020 annual scientific conference/AGM in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State amidst conflicting interests which sought to stop the election from taking place.
