A horrifying incident unfolded on Tuesday night in Dawaki Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as rampaging bandits targeted three communities, leaving 17 dead and 54 abducted during a relentless six-hour operation.

Former Councilor Hon. Aminu Khalid provided distressing details, revealing that Ungwan Sako, Kunkurai, and Dokan Kaji were the assaulted villages.

In a daring rescue attempt, locals engaged in a gun duel to free 20 abducted villagers, but the cost was high, with nine lives lost among the rescuers. Unfortunately, 34 individuals remain in the custody of the bandits, and there is no contact established yet for potential ransom demands.

According to Khalid, the terrorists infiltrated the communities on foot, strategically positioning themselves simultaneously. He emphasized that the bandits’ camp is situated in the Kajuru and Kachia forest, specifically at Dutsen Magunguna in Kajuru Local Government Area. Khalid asserted that without military intervention to raid the terrorist camp, peace in the affected communities is unlikely.

Despite efforts to obtain confirmation from Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mansir Hassan, the attempts proved futile as he could not be reached on his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
