The chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, Edozie Njoku, has issued a stern warning to Governor Charles Soludo, advising him against attempting to impose his will on the party.
Njoku emphasized that no individual, including the governor, is greater than the party and urged Soludo to adopt a more humble approach.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Njoku stated, “I have made significant efforts to engage with Governor Soludo, attending meetings and seeking common ground. However, it is crucial to always do the right thing and not attempt to impose oneself on the party.”
Njoku underscored the importance of mutual respect and dialogue, suggesting that Soludo should be willing to listen and work together. “Soludo might need to reconsider his stance and engage in meaningful discussions, as we are the party and the party is supreme,” he said.
Addressing speculation about his intentions regarding Soludo’s potential second term in 2025, Njoku dismissed any notion of sabotaging the governor’s ambitions. He clarified that he holds no grudge against Soludo, describing him as someone he respects but also emphasizing his own independence.
“I am too significant to be involved in such petty issues. Why would I have anything against Soludo? The only issue is that I am a man with my own mind, and Governor Soludo prefers an SA who is compliant and obedient. However, APGA insists on having good executives,” Njoku explained.
The warning comes amidst a deepening leadership crisis within APGA, with both Njoku and Sylvester Ezeokenwa claiming to be the legitimate chairman of the party. Ezeokenwa was elected as APGA Chairman in May 2023 following an elective convention in Awka, Anambra state. However, in July 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Edozie Njoku as the national chair of APGA, citing a court order as the basis for their decision
