The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Katsina State, Engr Mohammed Nura Khalil, has slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the ruling party should be begging for their mistakes and not campaigning for next year’s election.

Mr. Khalil disclosed this on Sunday when he received a crowd of women supporters who were on the ground to show their support for his candidature at his campaign office in the state capital. He charged them to reject the APC, but collect money offered to them by any politician.

“We have several plans on top gear to restore Katsina State in all aspects of development by the grace of Almighty Allah.

“It’s unfortunate that one measure of maize is being sold at N550 as against N50.

“Despite the high rate of attacks by armed bandits, poverty, and hunger created on the people which in effect crippled the economy of the rural communities including the urban areas, the APC without any shame is busy campaigning for continuity.

“I expected them to have commenced symphasizing and begging people over their mistakes but not campaigning.

“It is only in the APC-led administration, that begging among the women and small children became common practice. Women are neglected honestly,” he stated.

The governorship candidate also assured readiness to introduce a vibrant empowerment program aimed at empowering at least 34,000 women monthly across the state.

This implies that one thousand women will be empowered monthly in each of the 34 local government areas cut across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Earlier, the Convener of the gathering and wife of the Katsina State NNPP candidate, Hajiya Farida Muhammad Barau, said the massive gathering of women comprised those with an interest in changing the change.

The essence, she said, was to pass out an important message to them on how best to choose good leaders by voting only for the right candidates.

She further expressed optimism that her husband will win the election as she said he is the best candidate, a good person, and a popular grassroots politician with a sound political background.

In the meantime, the Katsina State NNPP Chairman, Hon. Sani Liti Yan-Kwani expressed concern over what he termed as “artificial poverty and hunger” created by the APC-led administration in the country.

The present administration, he claimed, also created hunger in all households amidst fears, insecurity, and unemployment among the teeming youths.

“These leaders planned nothing good for the country and if care is not taken, it may take us at least a hundred years before the damages are solved which is more dangerous than any disaster or calamities which used to come to pass,” the NNPP chieftain added.

Hon. Yan-Kwani, however, observed that Hausaland had never witnessed worse deteriorating security, economic challenges, educational backwardness, corruption as well as inhumane treatment than now.

But he assured that “our candidates are entirely different”.
