The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended Innocent Chukwuma in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for using social media to call on the military to overthrow the Nigerian government.

Chukwuma, who operates the “X” handle @TheAgroman, allegedly urged a coup, writing: “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now. It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only they can save this country. The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West, and they run our intelligence apparatus. Only the military can reset this country. Support them.”

Sources say Chukwuma is cooperating with DSS investigators.

In a related development, military authorities are investigating an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. Punch reports that the Managing Director of a Federal Government agency in the South-South was arrested for allegedly transferring a large sum of money to former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, who is suspected of financing the plot.

A senior intelligence officer disclosed, “The MD transferred a huge sum to Sylva. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the funds were connected to the coup. He is currently being questioned about the purpose of the transfer.”

Investigators also raided Sylva’s Abuja residence on Saturday. His younger brother, Paga Sylva, who serves as his Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs, and his driver were arrested. Sylva, a former Bayelsa governor and APC chieftain, was abroad at the time and reportedly refrained from returning to Nigeria after learning of the arrests.
