Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has called on Nigerian politicians to focus on lasting solutions to alleviate the nation’s economic challenges.

He emphasized that temporary relief efforts, such as distributing food, are not enough to address the deep-rooted suffering faced by many Nigerians.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Rema urged leaders to develop sustainable platforms that would continuously support the masses. He stressed the need for long-term initiatives that provide consistent access to essential services.

“It’s not about giving rice. Some children might even be allergic to rice. But what about tomorrow? What will they eat then?” Rema remarked. “It’s better to create a system that consistently provides food, education, clothing, and shelter to those in need.”

Rema also revealed that he frequently advises Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, offering insights on policies whenever they meet.

Rema Donates ₦105 Million to Christ Embassy Church

In a show of gratitude for the support his family received during difficult times, Rema has donated ₦105 million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State. This gesture took place during his visit to Edo State for the Edo@33 celebration, which included the launch of the 6,000-seat Edo Dome and a performance at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, organized by the state government.

The donation was made to the Edo Regional Headquarters of Christ Embassy, where Rema reflected on the church’s pivotal role in his life after his father passed away when he was just eight years old.

“I’m not here to seek glory for myself but to give it to God. I felt it was necessary to give back to the church that embraced, prayed for, and supported my family during our hardest moments,” Rema shared at a thanksgiving service. He recounted how the church’s pastors, Joy and Thomas, opened a shop for his mother, which helped sustain the family during those difficult years.

Rema’s donation includes ₦40 million for the church’s infrastructural development, ₦20 million for the Rhapsody of Realities publication, and ₦25 million to support the teen church, where he spent much of his youth. Additionally, he pledged ₦20 million to support widows in the church, highlighting his commitment to giving back to the community that uplifted him during his formative years.
