Farmers at Idege farmstead in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, are urgently appealing to the government and security agencies to ensure their safety, as they face a looming threat from armed herders determined to eliminate them.

Expressing their distress, the farmers highlighted the extensive damage caused to their farmlands by suspected herders. Several hectares of valuable farmland have fallen victim to the free-range grazing activities of Fulani Nomads’ cattle.

Ibrahim, a distressed farmer and one of the victims, spoke to reporters in Ado Ekiti, revealing that the destruction has impacted over 30 farmers in the community.

The farmers are now grappling with the aftermath of their ravaged lands and are urgently seeking intervention to safeguard their livelihoods from the ongoing menace.

This call for security echoes the growing concern among farmers who are facing the direct consequences of unchecked grazing activities, emphasizing the need for immediate action to protect both lives and livelihoods in Ado Ekiti.
