In a historic move, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has bestowed the title of Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland upon Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State.

Notably, El-Rufai becomes the first Nigerian outside the Southwest region to receive such an honor during the Awujale’s nearly 64-year reign.

The announcement was made by El-Rufai himself on his social media account, expressing gratitude for the recognition and acknowledging the significance of the moment.

Additionally, the Awujale is set to confer two chieftaincy titles upon Otunba Jimi Lawal and his wife Maryam Lawal for their substantial contributions to the Ijebu Kingdom and Nigeria.
