In a startling revelation during a cross over night on Monday at the Adoration Ground in Enugu, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, a controversial Catholic priest, claimed that he is facing an impending plot by some “evil people” to attack him in the year 2024.

While refraining from disclosing the identities of these alleged perpetrators, Father Mbaka asserted that God had revealed to him the intensity of the attacks he would face in the coming year.

He urgently called upon his followers for prayer support, stating, “The Lord demands that all of you should back Father Mbaka with prayers because of the level of attack that is coming to me in 2024. I need your prayer backup.”

Expressing his initial disbelief at the prospect of facing attacks this year, Father Mbaka emphasized that God had conveyed to him that certain malicious individuals were plotting against him.

He shared, “So please, I am the Mbaka. Pray for me. I do not know the evil people that the Holy Spirit was telling me about, but God knows them. He (Holy Spirit) told me that the evil people are harbouring grievances against me. He said the evil people had vowed not to rest until they deal with me.”

This revelation follows a turbulent period for Father Mbaka, who, in his New Year message in 2022, had alleged a previous plot to assassinate him after his public disagreement with the Catholic Diocese of Enugu in May 2021. At that time, the priest, known for his previous support of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, criticized the president, calling for his resignation or impeachment due to perceived “bad governance.” The ensuing exchange led to accusations from the presidency that Father Mbaka was disgruntled over denied government contracts.

The situation escalated, prompting the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Callistus Onaga, to temporarily shut down the Adoration Ministry for a month. The issue was eventually resolved after Father Mbaka issued an apology to Bishop Onaga and the Catholic faithful of the diocese.

As the priest now anticipates new challenges in 2024, his call for prayers reflects a sense of urgency and concern regarding the perceived threats against him.
