The Federal Government has sanctioned a salary augmentation ranging from 25% to 35% for civil servants under the remaining six Consolidated Salary Structures.

These structures include the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Previously, increments were granted to those in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors, which encompassed the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) for universities. For Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, the increments were under the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS).

The Health Sector also saw increases through the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

According to a statement by Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), these increases will be effective from January 1, 2024.

In addition, the Federal Government has approved pension increases between 20% and 28% for pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme, in relation to the aforementioned six consolidated salary structures, effective from January 1, 2024.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has been pushing for these salary increases due to inflation.
