The Federal Government has officially approved an increase in the monthly allowance for corps members from N33,000 to N77,000, set to take effect in July 2024.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on their official Facebook page.

The statement detailed that the increase aligns with the recent enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024. A letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by Chairman Mr. Ekpo Nta, confirmed the adjustment.

Earlier, NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed had visited the Chairman to advocate for enhanced welfare packages for corps members.

The NYSC Chief expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for this timely decision, emphasizing that it will not only provide much-needed support to the corps members but also enhance their morale, encouraging them to contribute even more during their national service.
