A fresh wave of internal tension appears to be brewing within the Obidient movement, as publisher and political commentator Nkiruka Nistoran, head of NN News Media, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express concerns about party unity and loyalty among supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

In a strongly worded post, Nistoran accused one of the supporter of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Without mincing words, she criticized Peter Obi’s choice of allies, warning him about the risks of ignoring coalition dynamics.

“This girl is working for APC! The Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, look at the kind of people you’ve surrounded yourself with. If you don’t follow coalition rules, you’ll be rejected both at home and across Nigeria. Go and bookmark it,” she wrote.

The post is a direct reaction to comments made by Serah Ibrahim (@TheSerahIbrahim), a prominent Obidient and social media personality. In a bold declaration, Serah reaffirmed her unwavering confidence in Peter Obi’s political future, insisting he would contest again in the 2027 presidential elections.

“Take this to the bank and cash it. Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. He is the ONLY candidate who has proven himself by running in a relatively unknown party ALONE and pulling a tsunami in just 7 months. Others do not even have the confidence to run alone in a small party,” she posted.

“So while they worry about primaries, prepare yourselves for the election. Again, Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. Take this to the bank.”

The exchange highlights a growing debate within the Labour Party and its support base over the path forward as Nigeria looks ahead to the 2027 general elections. While Obi’s supporters remain confident in his appeal and track record, voices like Nistoran are raising alarms over internal strategy, coalition politics, and the integrity of the movement’s core supporters.

As political realignments begin to take shape, the Obidient movement faces a critical period of introspection and strategic decision-making that could determine its impact in the next election cycle.
