Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and All-Progressives Congress (APC) south-south Chairman Victor Giadom reconciled during a private meeting at Giadom’s residence in Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers state, on January 6.
Despite Wike dismissing the visit as personal, speculation about his potential APC defection and support for President Bola Tinubu has intensified.
Wike emphasized the importance of making a positive impact in politics and commended Giadom for remaining politically relevant. Despite addressing rumors, Wike asserted cryptic statement, Forget about these hungry noisemakers on the road. When the time comes, we will know who is in charge and who is not in charge.”
The event drew prominent figures, including serving senators, House of Representatives members from Rivers, leaders from both the APC and PDP, former PDP chairmen Felix Obuah and Amb. Desmond Akawor, PDP’s South-south Chairman Chief Dan Orbih, former PDP National Secretary Sam Anyanwu, and various local dignitaries, including traditional rulers, local government chairpersons, and youth and women’s groups.
During his visit, Wike clarified, “I didn’t come here for politics. I came here to visit my friend, Giadom. Let nobody misinterpret why I came here. That is why I came with PDP and APC leaders. It is a private visit to my friend.”
Reflecting on their friendship, Wike stated, “Party will come and go, and friendship will remain. We have made our mistakes; we are all humans, but friendship remains.”
Giadom reciprocated the sentiment, calling Wike’s visit a “homecoming of a brother, a friend, and a leader.” He assured Wike of their support, expressing, “Be rest assured that we will support the team you will lead in Rivers to provide support for our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the main reason we are all here today. This place, nobody can challenge any visitor on this soil. We are in firm control of this place.”
