The Minister of Labour and Employment, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, has resigned from his position in the Federal Executive Council to pursue a seat in the Senate.
NN News Media learnt that the decision follows the affirmation of his victory in the Plateau South Senatorial election by the Court of Appeal.
Lalong, a former governor of Plateau State and Director-General of the Tinubu Presidential Council, plans to await President Bola Tinubu’s decision before officially joining the Senate.
Sources close to the minister suggest that his aim is to support Tinubu’s presidential ambitions and contribute to the success of the government from the Senate.
Following Lalong’s resignation, a new appointee will represent Plateau State in the federal cabinet.
