The remains of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari have arrived in Katsina State and are en route to his hometown, Daura, for burial. The former leader passed away two days ago in a London clinic at the age of 82.

His body, adorned in the national colours, touched down at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina at approximately 1:59 PM on Tuesday. He was flown in aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft.

A delegation of high-ranking government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several members of the late president’s family, accompanied the body.

The solemn moment saw the Nigerian Armed Forces respectfully retrieve the casket from the aircraft, with full military honours. On hand to receive the body were Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, and other key officials from the state government.

Buhari is scheduled to be buried later today in accordance with Islamic rites in his hometown, Daura, bringing an end to a chapter in Nigeria’s political history.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also arrived in Katsina along with other dignitaries to attend the burial ceremony.
