In the midst of escalating political uncertainty and the departure of seven cabinet members within the past 24 hours, Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains steadfast in assuring investors that Rivers State is stable and secure.

Speaking at the launch of a 20,000-unit housing project in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Governor Fubara emphasized the state’s safety for investments, dispelling notions of crisis circulating in the media.

“Fear not, Rivers State is a haven for investment. Contrary to rumors, our state is safe and secure for anyone looking to invest; your investments are secure in our hands,” declared Governor Fubara.

Addressing the citizens, he pledged his government’s commitment to their well-being and protection, emphasizing that his administration is focused on service rather than engaging in conflicts.

“For our people, I want to assure you that our governance has nothing to do with fighting anybody. Our goal is to take care of and defend our people,” affirmed Governor Fubara.

The ongoing political turmoil, stemming from the feud between Fubara and his predecessor, Minister Nyesom Wike, has led to a divided state House of Assembly. With lawmakers defecting and disputes over vacant seats, the political landscape remains tense.

Governor Fubara, further complicating matters, demolished the Assembly complex, citing its unsuitability after a fire incident. Presenting the 2024 budget to a faction of the Assembly, he continues to navigate the complex political terrain, as the Martins Amaewhule-led group faces legal challenges.

Adding to the challenges, seven commissioners have recently resigned from Fubara’s cabinet, marking another significant development in the unfolding political drama in Rivers State.
