Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, announced on his X handle the swearing-in of Chairmen for Caretaker Committees to oversee the affairs of the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.

This move comes after the expiration of the previous Chairmen’s tenures, ensuring a seamless transition and avoiding any unconstitutional extension of their terms.

Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of grassroots leadership, urging the newly appointed caretaker chairmen to prioritize the interests of their communities and maintain peace and order.

In a bid to reinforce his administration’s commitment to accountability, he also ordered an audit of the Local Government Areas’ activities over the past three years to ensure proper utilization of funds.
