Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to governance, declaring that despite ongoing opposition, the progress of the state remains unstoppable and victory is assured.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly reconstructed Rivers State Government House Staff Quarters on Forces Avenue, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara acknowledged the disappointment among Rivers residents following the Supreme Court’s judgment but urged them to stay resilient, as the future holds greater prospects.
The Governor reassured the people that his administration remains steadfast and anchored in divine guidance. “Our trust is in God, not in man. I appreciate your unwavering support, and I assure you that I will always stand by you,” he stated. “I will lead with honor, respect, and integrity so that when my tenure ends, I can confidently defend my actions. I will not disappoint you.”
Governor Fubara emphasized that Rivers people must take control of their destiny, highlighting that his leadership does not endorse violence but will not tolerate those who seek to destabilize the state. He reiterated his readiness to make necessary decisions for the state’s future, emphasizing that he fears no political consequence, as his priority remains the well-being of Rivers State.
“No matter how much we have been deceived in this state, the time has come for the people to take charge of their future. I do not support violence, but I will lead when the time comes to make critical decisions. The worst that could happen is leaving office—but that does not mean the end of my existence. The right thing must be done, and I will ensure it is,” he affirmed.
Governor Fubara expressed his dedication to the welfare of the people, stating that he is willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of the state. Quoting Philippians 3:18-19, he emphasized that his focus is on genuine service, not personal gain. “Our concern is not selfish interest but the joy and progress of our people. What truly matters is the legacy we leave behind and the lives we positively impact.”
Speaking on the newly inaugurated project, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the Government House Staff Quarters. He described the initiative as a testament to his administration’s commitment to improving the living and working conditions of government workers.
“This facility was once in a deplorable state, unfit for habitation. We saw the need to create a better environment for our staff, knowing that their well-being directly affects their efficiency. I am pleased that the contractor delivered within the agreed timeline,” he said.
Chief of Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, commended the Governor for his dedication to workers’ welfare. Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mr. Chukwuma Ndudi Augustine, highlighted the project’s impact, noting that it was awarded on June 6, 2024, to Monier Construction Company (MCC) and has been fully completed and paid for.
The new Government House Staff Quarters features six two-bedroom apartments, eleven one-bedroom apartments, eleven Boys’ Quarters, and two hostels with a total of 62 bed spaces. Additional amenities include a cafeteria, gymnasium, mini basketball court, water supply system, soundproof power generator, and a canteen.
Governor Fubara extended gratitude to the elders and stakeholders supporting his administration, reaffirming his commitment to delivering good governance. “Rivers State deserves the best, and I will continue to work diligently for the progress and peace of our people,” he concluded.
